§ 10 - Requirements

  • A Microsoft® Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows XP or Windows NT 4.00/SP3(or higher) compatible computer (NT compliance was tested using NT 4 with Service pack 3)
  • With a Pentium or higher processor
  • 16 Mb of RAM memory at a minimum
  • About 75 Mb of HD space if you keep the documentation on your hard disk, or,
About 15 Mb of HD space if you keep the documentation on the CD.
  • A Web Browser capable of displaying GIF, GIF animations, and JPEG images.

The web browser must be the default tool for .html files on your computer in order for F/x's context sensitivity to work properly.

For the web-based version, the documentation requires full compatibility with HTML level 4.01 Transitional of the browser, and it is recommended that you enable Javascript if you have turned it off; it is used to enable web-based navigation of these documentation pages with the keyboard. If you don't want that functionality, then there is no need to enable Javascript. The following browsers are known to be compatible with HTML level 4.01 Transitional:

    1. Chrome
    2. Firefox
    3. Internet Explorer
    4. Opera
    5. Safari

We recommend that WinImages R7 be used on the following hardware:

  • An accelerated graphics display able to show 16 million or more colors
  • A Pentium II processor or better
  • 32 Mb or more of RAM memory

In general, more real memory (as opposed to virtual memory) will always assist the running of more cpu- and memory-intensive applications like Morph and WinImages F/x.
