Ranges other than 0/1 are indicated by brackets, such as [0-2].
This operation alters each pixel based upon its monochrome brightness level. Bright pixels are made blue, middle brightness pixels become green, and dark pixels become red.
The overall effect is a three toned image which is similar to thermal elevations.
